They last longer than energizers, but they die faster when they go, by a small margin. They have good run time and have better construction, according to leak safety tests I have read. All in all a great battery with a cool red top. Not being made in China is a plus these days as well, supporting North American industry is good for all of us. I will buy these D cells from now on and I go through quite a few in a year. Good job Rayovac! I never thought I would switch from Energizer. Oh ya and the voltage was a tad higher on the ray o vacs. Don't be scared to try these, you won't regret it. Rayovac finally has a superior battery.I just put in these brand new batteries, received a day ago, and they barely made any difference in the flashlight with batteries that had been in there for 4 years. The flashlight was for emergencies so it was a shelf-life drain on the batteries. I don't know if these are duds, or if they were replaced in the package (because I found the package had been sliced open a couple of inches on one side. I'll see how their customer support handles this issue.In the past I steered away from this brand however I tried them again as this is newer technology and well we are amazed. They last long, I can't say the exact same as let's say Duracell but I believe they would be neck to neck in a race.
