When placed in a candle holder, it’s hard to tell that it isn’t a real flame.set your expectations -lower- even if martha has her name on it. one of the twelve didn’t work. tried replacing battery & still no-go. id given away a few to a friend or id be tempted to return these.MAKE sure you have a TINY screwdriver to change batteries. not sure how long these things will last & unimpressedBetter than standard tealight candles. They don't look cheap. But they don't flicker and the flame light is cool white. No remote either.Admittedly, I gagged at the price when I first saw these but they were just what I was looking for. I figured at best, if they didn't perform to satisfaction, I could always send them back. Mind you, I have lots of other flameless candles around my home and these were to replace a pair that had the battery part leak the battery acid. This was the first time purchasing the Martha Stewart brand. They are on a timer, glow with a look of a real candle and overall create a nice ambiance. The other name brands that I have, the lights tend to be obviously artificial but not so with these. When these turn on, they truly look like real candles.I love the look and the timer works perfectly. They turn on at 4:30 and shutoff at 10:30 daily. I wish I could find other sized pillars.There is no timer or remote control, but the description does not say that there is. They are as pictured. Really nicelook the most realistic and the timer is great
