After spending over to $100 on Eneloops and Wattson Ni-MH rechargables in the past 5 years (regular versions and then later the expensive black / pro versions) but having both voltage (aka “low” battery readings because NiMH are 1.2v max ) and battery discharging too fast issues, can’t believe it but, it looks like I found some winners!I came to know about these by doing a search on youtube for AAs that hold a true 1.5v measurement ( ideally for a long time) because I have an outdoor Yolink AA battery powered, home security siren controller that I have installed in a very difficult place to reach . My goal was to have batteries in it that had the benefit of being rechargeable but also that hold a true 1.5v ( x four batteries = 6 volt) charge like Alkaline batteries do.Tried my NimH rechargeables but the sensors in the controller didn’t like them (the chemistry) at all due to the low voltage when fully charged (1.2 x four batteries equaled 4.8v not the 6 v to get healthy battery reading) so my security system, would continually warn me that the batteries were low. Ugh not fun.Looked into lithium batteries, found either rechargeable ones that have excessive voltage 3.7v (x four batteries would fry the controller) or lots of rechargeables that have built in usb charging ports - which reviews later showed have shorter capacities (don’t last as long) because the built-in charger takes up a big percentage of physical space which is better used for vital cell / power space. Also saw lots of lithium single use AA (not rechargeable batteries) that hold the 1.5 volts but tested as lasting only slightly longer than alkaline batteries but were way more expensive.Eventually I found a video Youtube on where the poster uses a professional battery EAST TESTER brand battery discharger / battery capacity tester and tested a bunch of these rechargable 1.5v batteries. The video creator did not use a row of battery powered fans to test lolz his pro-testing unit was computerized to provide the exact same draw on each battery (fans can have variation) and scientific that showed final results for each battery after they were discharged. In his test he showed the total Amp Hours Ah (battery life duration) and true voltage of all the battery brands. In the end these Amptorrent Pro batteries’ (unlike alot of mysterious brands) total listed battery capacity as well as listed voltage passed the test. There was only one other brand that I can remember that had a longer (slightly) battery capacity but it did not have a true 1.5v result (may have been slightly higher or lower, will have to go back and look). So I went with this brand telling myself that if I had one issue with them I was sending them back.Crazy thing is, so far , I have had them six months, is I have only charged them one time and my siren sensor has continued to be happy.I have since bought the AAA AmpTorrent rechargeable lithium batteries (the ones without the built in charging ports ) for my Milight smart lightbulb remotes and they work great there too (have also solved a pain the the butt problem). Got the ones without the external charger because the one that came with the Pro AA’s works with the AAA’s too. Before the remotes would just stop working all together after one or two weeks using my NiMh batteries (will say though that the Eneloops lasted a little longer than the Wattsons). So I love the AAA Amptorrents too (will probably edit this review and post it on the AAA product page as well).Note: to consider for before buying :I have found these batteries to be amazingly successfully at powering very low current devices. They might be great for RC toys and high power flash lights but I have not yet tested them there. My siren sensor is “alway on” and requires something like a constant .090 Amps in standby mode and I believe . 500 A when supplying the siren with power (something that is a very rare occurence). My Milight LED remotes require very little juice as well.In theory the tests on the youtube video I saw showed that these would be great for all purposes, compared to NiMh batteries (I assume they would be). I did see another Youtube video where the poster complained that the batteries didn’t last in his flashlights. That video was older (the poster also had an old version of the charger that he didn’t like that is not like the one I received) and he was not using any kind of scientific equipment for his review. Just something to keep in mind though (I would just make sure test these batteries well for your specific use before your return window closes).Writing this review because I eventually want to convert every battery I use in my house over to these and hope that the company is still in business when I do, (it’s going to take time because they aren’t as cheap as I wish they were)! Now I’m not sure what to do with all of my crappy Nihm batteries. Guess I will recycle them eventually but I’m holding on to them for now in case I end up with some kind of device what requires 1.2v. Is there even such a thing?Looking at them and thinking what I paid for them does not spark joy though.
